About Driverzone.com:

Driverzone.com, is basically a one man show, that would be me Barry Fanion.  I came up with the idea for Driverzone.com almost by accident.  Way back in 1996 or so, I was helping out friends and family doing PC repairs, we had pretty much every brand of computer you could think of at the time, and of course the need for drivers for the PC's.  In order to keep track of everything I started keeping a list of bookmarks (Netscape 2.0 I think) of all the different manufactures that I came across. One day I decided to put  this bookmark list up on my personal web space from my ISP so that I could get at it from other computers. I kept adding to this list as time went on and had a pretty big list of all the manufactures on the web at this time (this was before anyone had heard of e-everything and  dot com). I started noticing over time that other people were using my pages (thank you altavista) , and thought to myself, I might have something here...
After dragging my feet for some time, I finally decided to register driverzone.com in June of 1997, and take this whole web think more seriously.
Well, that is when things really started taking off, the number of visitors really started to increase, along with the number of companies moving to the web.  We have beat a few webservers to death since then, I still remember the first company that hosted my site calling me and asking me to move my site because it was doing more traffic then the rest of all his hosted sites combined. This would not be the last server that I would outgrow...
I started driverzone.com mainly as a hobby back then, It has grown more than I could have ever expected, I have meet people from countries I never even knew existed. I have made friends with people all over the world, it has been an amazing experience for me.   Although the site has grown from a hobby to taking up pretty much any spare time I have (I still work for a living) I still enjoy it, and hope to for years to come. I would like to say thank you to everyone for making driverzone.com what it is today. So stay tuned I have lots more in store for driverzone.com. Barry
