Attached is a self extracting win95 driver for the Dexxa 4800 flatbed
scanner which I finally managed to track down.

The only funny thing I found was that it displays a message during the
initialisation process: "Scanner is working in byte mode". If you OK this
message before the initialization is complete then it will cause a pagefault
and hang. If you wait and then OK it, it all works fine. Not very robust,
as the natural thing to do when prompted with a message to OK is to do
exactly that.

James,

Sorry about the delay in replying

I have solved the problem. It wasn't the driver after all.
In the CMOS SETUP - INTEGRATED PERIPHERAL - PARALLEL PORT MODE
it apparently defaults to SPP (whatever that is). There are a number
of options to choose and I selected EPP1.7 And it works fine!!!

Wish I knew more about these things.

Thanks for your trouble

Regards

David
